You Have Value And Worth (A Woman’s Self-Esteem)

In this society where magazines, billboards, commercials, T.V., and movies portray women as objects instead of people of value, it’s not very surprising that there are so many problems among today’s women. They have to try to “keep up with the Joneses”, so to speak in this world. Women think they have to be like models by being very beautiful, thin and shapely, they have to have the best hair-do, wear makeup, color their hair, wear nail polish, shop at the best stores, they have to be in fashion by dressing in the best clothes, have stylish shoes, and have the most expensive purses. Although those things are wonderful and nice to have, God desires all His people to prosper and have nice things but what if you don’t have those ” things”? What then? Do women begin to think lower of themselves if they don’t match up to what society thinks they should have or be? I think some of them do. They may think, if I could just have this or that, have a better job with more money, more “things”, or be like some other people then I would do better or be better. There are many different people that may try to put women down and degrade them such as, some men in other countries don’t respect women, it could be from their family or parents telling them bad and ugly things about them, it could be from teachers, people they may look up to, or what about the women who have been abused, they may have a very low self-esteem. Self-Esteem means confidence and satisfaction in oneself; self- respect. You have to have confidence and respect yourself. You have to like who you are. I am writing this to tell you that You Have Value and Worth. What is Value and Worth? Value is worth, utility, or importance, something(such as a principle or quality) intrinsically valuable or desirable, to consider or rate highly. You have to think good about yourself, for you are important. The Bible says in (Matt. 10:31) ” Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.” God created all of us to be unique and special. You have a purpose. God has a plan for your life, you just need to turn to Him and seek Him to find out what that good plan is. God used some women mightily in the Bible. He used Rachel and Leah to build the house of Israel. Deborah was a judge and she inspired the Israelites to a mighty victory over their Canaanite oppressors. Esther was a Jewish Queen of the Persian King Ahasuerus and she saved her Jewish people. Ruth was in the genealogy of Christ The Messiah. Mary gave birth to Jesus. Yes, women are very important and have important roles to play in their lives. Worth means sufficiently good, important, deserving to be treated or regarded in the way specified; high value or merit, moral or personal value, excellence, usefulness, or value. You deserve to be regarded and treated right. God highly values you. You should value yourself and others should value you as well. It all starts by knowing how much God loves you, then you can like, love, respect, and value yourself as a person with a good self-esteem. You can then love the Lord and share God’s love with others. The Bible says in (Mark 12:31) “And the second, like it, is this; You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these.” This is actually one of God’s commandments but how can you “love your neighbor as yourself” until you start having a right image and esteem of yourself. I can probably write a lot more about this but remember, God loves you! You Have Value and Worth!
